Todman Stakes 2013 Betting Update and Tips

The 2013 Golden Slipper picture is set to become clearer after this weekend and one of the races that is likely to impact that is the Group 2 2013 Todman Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill.

The colts and geldings juvenile race appears an open affair, with Charlie Boy the $3.70 favourite ahead of six other horses who fall under double figures.

Silver Slipper runner-up Whiskey Allround is a $5 chance to claim top honours and force connections to pay the $150,000 Golden Slipper late entry fee while Black Opal Stakes winner Criterion is at $6.50.

Darley colt Sidestep was second in the Black Opal and is a $7.50 chance here while Never Can Tell ($8) is expected to bounce back from an unplaced effort in tough conditions in the Silver Slipper.

Also in the hunt are Blue Diamond runner-up Fast ‘N’ Rocking ($8.50) and Jason Coyle’s colt Va Pensiero ($9).

Need some help deciding on your Todman Stakes selections? Keep reading as the experts have been studying the form closely and bring to you our very best betting tips.

The Winner

#3 Whiskey Allround $5

Was poor out of the barriers in the Silver Slipper and still managed to fight back and score a tough second, finishing narrowly behind Sweet Idea.

A natural winner, has won three from four, and running second-up here so likely to take improvement out of the Silver Slipper run.

The Placings

#1 Criterion $6.50 and #4 Never Can Tell $8

Criterion has been well backed from $8 into $6.50 and we think for good reason.

Was impressive when storming down the outside to win the Black Opal Stakes and likely to improve again here.

Put a line through Never Can Tell’s Silver Slipper 12th as he never handled the heavy ground.

Won the Canonbury Stakes ahead of Gai Waterhouse’s number one two-year-old colt Whittington the start before and can bounce back here.
