Silver Slipper winner Sweet Idea had a further tune up ahead of the 2013 Golden Slipper on April 6 with a soft trial win at Randwick this morning.
The Gai Waterhouse-trained three-year-old narrowly won her heat ahead of stablemate Lesley’s Choice, clocking 43.1 in comfortable style for 727m.
Part owners Henderson Racing reported on twitter they are now just “waiting for the big day” at Rosehill.
“Sweet Idea goes through the motions with her trial win this morning. Just waiting for the big day,” Henderson Racing said.
The Snitzel filly may not have the raw talent of Slipper favourites Overreach and Villa Verde, who will clash tomorrow at Rosehill, but heads into the $3.5 million sprint race-hardened and ready.
Sweet Idea has won twice and is yet to miss a place from five outings.
After running second in the $2 million Magic Millions Classic in January, Sweet Idea produced a gritty win to claim the Silver Slipper.
With Jim Cassidy aboard, the youngster held off a strong finish from Whiskey Allround to win the Group 2 race on heavy ground.
Sweet Idea currently occupies the third line of Golden Slipper betting at $15.
Stablemate Overreach is the $3.90 favourite after winning the Widden Stakes by six lengths last month.
Victorian filly Villa Verde is a $5.50 second favourite and will make her Sydney debut in the Reisling Stakes tomorrow.
The Shaun Dwyer-trained youngster is unbeaten from two starts at Listed level, winning by 1 1/2 lengths and three lengths in the spring to begin her career.
Also high up in Slipper betting are Silver Slipper third Charlie Boy ($14) and Lonhro Plate winner Whittington who is trained by Gai Waterhouse alongside Sweet Idea and Overreach.
