Black Caviar has done just what everyone expected by winning the Group 1 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley racecourse tonight March 22, 2013.
The six-year-old ambled to victory down the final straight, passing the post four lengths ahead of Karuta Queen, who finished second, and Fawkner, who placed a gallant third.
Black Caviar’s latest win has seen her equal Kingston Town’s impressive record of 14 total Group 1 victories.
The Bel Esprit mare was never in danger of her unbeaten streak coming to an end as she jumped well from barrier six and cruised past her opposition to claim another spectacular race win.
The great mare has now won all 24 of her race starts and has earned more than $6.75 million in prize money during her incredible career.
Part owner David Taylor couldn’t hide his excitement following Black Caviar’s William Reid Stakes win.
“She is in great form isn’t she?” Taylor said.
“She looks so great in the yard.
“Let’s be frank, the only way she way going to be beaten tonight was an injury or a bit of bad luck.”
Trainer Peter Moody was as proud as ever after Black Caviar’s latest win in the 2013 William Reid Stakes.
“She’s going super. It’s scary how well she’s going,” Moody said.
“She’s probably never handled the Valley that well.
“I mean what do you say?
“(It’s) just super to see her in that form.
“It’s just great to see the people out there and to see her put on a wonderful show.
“For our industry racing she’s second to none.”
Black Caviar will now go on towards either the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes or the Group 1 All Aged Stakes in Sydney this autumn before a possible swansong in Brisbane’s Group 1 BTC Cup in May.
“The only thing that will stop her running is a wet track,” Moody said.
“All things going well we’ll bring her to Sydney for the TJ Smith Stakes.”
Jockey Luke Nolen was once again aboard Australia’s best race horse for her William Reid Stakes run.
“She didn’t dissapoint anyone again here tonight,” Nolen said
“She felt amazing to me. She traveled well in the run.
“She doesn’t jump around and she doesn’t make my ride any more awkward as a result.
“It’s been a wonderful ride. It’s been a privileged to be part of such a wonderful racing story.”
