It’s difficult to split the top two in the betting market for the Group 2 2013 Phar Lap Stakes (1200m) which will take place at Rosehill on Saturday.
Eleven talented three-year-olds will contest the event and currently at the top of the betting market are Ashokan ($4.20) and Ninth Legion ($4.60).
Both horses head into the race in good form, with Ashokan coming off a runner-up finish in the Canberra Guineas and Ninth Legion showing promise under new trainers Team Hawkes.
The Fasnet Rock colt was fourth in the Golden Rose under former trainer Anthony Cummings and after winning at Sandown earlier this month for Team Hawkes he was a narrowly beaten second in the Bendigo Guineas on Saturday.
It is cluttered at the top of the market and just behind the top two are Toydini ($5.50) and Albrecht ($6).
Toydini was fifth at his only start so far this autumn while Albrecht will be out to bounce back after a failed Melbourne expedition.
The Darley colt was unplaced in three starts in Melbourne in February and early March after shining in the Sydney spring to run second in the Golden Rose and win the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes.
At $11 is Mick Kent’s colt High Shot. The High Chaparral colt has been hyped since winning on debut at Cranbourne in October but has misfired in both the Autumn Stakes and the Australian Guineas to begin his autumn campaign.
Also rated an $11 chance is Force Command who was third in the Bendigo Guineas after previously placing in the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes and the Listed Manfred Stakes.
Others contesting the Phar Lap Stakes include Indianpolis ($13), Turnley ($17), Rowie ($17), Honorious and outside hope Coyote Miss ($81).
