Overreach Odds-On in Moet & Chandon Stakes 2013 Betting

Unsurprisingly the current 2013 Golden Slipper betting favourite Overreach has opened odds-on to take out her latest assignment in the $300,000 Group 2 Moet & Chandon Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Racecourse this Saturday.

Formerly known as the Reisling Stakes, there are just six two-year-old fillies engaged in this year’s edition of the Moet & Chandon Stakes, the race a key lead-up for female juveniles heading towards the $3.5 million Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) on April 6.

Gai Waterhouse’s daughter of Exceed And Excel Overreach, the emphatic six length winner of the Listed Widden Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill last month, is early favourite for the Golden Slipper at a quote of $3.90.

She will look to retain that top spot in the Slipper odds with another win this weekend, Overreach the $1.55 top elect in the Moet & Chandon Stakes odds.

Following her in both the Golden Slipper betting markets and those for Rosehill Race 2 on Saturday is then another smart filly, the Shaun Dwyer-trained Villa Verde.

The Not A Single Doubt grey is undefeated to date having won both of her opening starts last spring.

On debut she defeated Overreach in the Inglis Debutants Stakes and was last seen running away to take out a Listed Melbourne Cup Day sprint at Flemington by three lengths, both races held over 1000m.

Paying $5.50 to win the Slipper, Villa Verde is at $2.60 for her resuming run this weekend where she will be first-up over a distance she’s never seen before in her Sydney debut.

The rest of the Moet & Chandon Stakes 2013 field are then at $19 or more to score what would be the day’s biggest boilover.

At $19 is the John Sadler-trained Husson filly Go Again in gate two who won at Sandown over 900m on debut at the start of the month, followed by the rails-drawn Diva Dee at $34, Anthony Cummings’ daughter of Encosta De Lago last seen running third to Montsegur in the Group 3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes (1200m).

Winner on debut at Newcastle on March 6 Spurrendous ($51) and Startum filly Cyrenia ($101) complete the line-up.
