2013 William Reid Stakes – Black Caviar Aims For 24 Straight

Black Caviar will line up in the hope of making it 24 in a row when she runs in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley racecourse this Friday night March 22, 2013.

The unbeaten seven-year-old has already claimed victory in the Group 1 Lightning Stakes so far this autumn, and will be out to continue her perfect career record in the 2013 William Reid Stakes.

The Bel Esprit mare has already won all 23 of her career starts and has earned more than $6.5 million in prize money during her inspiring career.

Despite having an opposing horse in this Friday’s 2013 William Reid Stakes, trainer John Sadler is already crediting Black Caviar with the win.

Sadler will saddle up Linton in the $400,000 race, who he claims will be no match for the queen of the turf.

“She’s the best I’ve ever seen,” Sadler said of Black Caviar.

“Makybe Diva is the best stayer I’ve ever seen and Vain was the best sprinter I’d ever seen up until Black Caviar.

“It’s just good to have something that runs against her. I don’t know how I’d feel if I ever beat her – but that won’t happen.”

Black Caviar has been awarded 56.5 kilograms under the 2013 William Reid Stakes’ weight-for-age conditions.

Despite already conceding defeat, Saddler is expecting Linton to produce a great first-up run in the 1,200 metre race.

“I’m really pleased with him. He’s in good form,” Sadler said.

“I hope he’s competitive on Friday night from the point of view that he’s running on well in the race.

“But of course, she (Black Caviar) goes there and barring accident she just streets them again.”

Linton, who will no doubt find the 2013 William Reid Stakes’ distance too short, has won four of his 20 race starts and has earned close to $900,000 in prize money.
