Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
The Group 1 2013 Randwick Guineas (1600m) takes place at Warwick Farm today and features a talented batch of three-year-olds.
There’s no All Too Hard or Pierro but the 11-horse field still contains plenty of quality and current favourite is Rebel Dane ($2.75).
The Gary Portelli-trained colt is the clear galloper to beat, having won four of five starts and he produced a mighty impressive second to Pierro in the Hobartville Stakes.
At $3.50 is Proisir, the number two colt in Gai Waterhouse’s stable, who finished third in the Hobartville Stakes and is considered an improving horse with bigger things in store.
The market mover is It’s A Dundeel who has shortened from $6 to $5.50 and will race with blinkers for the first time.
The New Zealand colt is typically a backmarker but the gear change is expected to see him race closer to the pace today.
It’s A Dundeel impressed in the spring when upsetting Proisir to win the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes and boasts a record of five wins from eight starts.
No other runner falls under double figures, with Chris Waller’s pair of former New Zealand gallopers Tougher Than Ever ($10) and Sacred Falls ($11) the next best in the market.
Tougher Than Ever was second in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes last start while Sacred Falls will be out to bounce back from his Royal Sovereign Stakes fifth.
The value runner in the race appears to be Ferlax ($14) who makes his Sydney debut after winning the Group 1 Australian Guineas at Flemington two weeks ago.
Other runners in the Randwick Guineas include the Darley-owned Tatra ($26) and Proverb ($31).
