He’s All The Talk After 2013 Skyline Stakes Win – Golden Slipper Bound

Speedy colt All The Talk announced himself as a 2013 Golden Slipper contender at Warwick Farm today, producing a dominant start-to-finish victory in the Group 3 2013 Skyline Stakes (1200m).

After running fourth in the Silver Slipper in heavy conditions, the Gary Portelli-trained youngster relished being back on top of the ground on a Good 3 surface.

With Brenton Avdulla in the saddle he held a narrow lead approaching the home turn before kicking clear and powering home to claim a three length victory from Queenslander Octane Flyer and Gerald Ryan’s colt Dothraki.

Portelli confirmed the son of Stratum will now head to the $3.5 million Golden Slipper at Rosehill on April 6.

“It’s unbelieveable, I’m so happy for the owners,” Portelli said.

“I thought come the turn, a couple of horses had a dig at them early, I thought well this will be interesting.

“My plan was probably to be out by two or three lengths but he found plenty. I’m not saying his a good thing in the Slipper but they’ll know he’s in there.”

Avdulla was aboard the emerging galloper for the first time and was impressed with what was a mature performance.

“It was my first ride on him he gave me a good ride,” Avdulla said.

“Half way up the straight I was basically in a world of my own. He switched off for me but he ran through the line well.”

“I haven’t ridden a Slipper. If he’s Slipper quality we’ll find out soon enough but all you can do is win and he won well today.”
