Eight Australian horses have been entered for the Group 1 2013 KrisFlyer International Sprint (1200m) which will take place in Singapore on May 19.
Spearheading the group is proven traveller Ortensia who took the international stage by storm last year, winning the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint in Dubai as well as the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes and Group 2 King George Stakes in the UK.
But to warrant another international expedition the seven-year-old will have to show remarkable improvement from her first two autumn starts.
The Paul Messara-trained mare finished 11th in the Oakleigh Plate and beat just one runner home in a 13-horse Newmarket Handicap field.
Queensland brothers Spirit Of Boom and Temple Of Boom join the experienced mare in nominations.
Spirit Of Boom was third at Group 1 level when travelling to Perth in November and has begun his autumn campaign with a third in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate and a sixth in the Newmarket.
Temple Of Boom, a Group 1 winner in last year’s Galaxy, kicks off his autumn against Hay List in the Challenge Stakes at Warwick Farm on Saturday.
Another Australian Group 1 winner nominated is Atomic Force who took out the Galaxy in 2011.
Leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller has entered consistent mare Red Tracer.
The five-year-old, who is unbeaten on wet tracks, has won 10 of 24 starts and finished in the minor placings on nine other occasions.
She has finished second in the Group 2 Thoroughbred Breeders’ Classic and won the Group 3 Millie Fox Stakes to begin her autumn.
Other Australian horses nominated for the KrisFlyer Sprint are lightly-raced mare Lady Melksham, Michael Moroney’s four-year-old speedster African Pulse and Perth’s Winterbottom Stakes runner-up Power Princess.
