Clarry Conners2013 Golden Slipper-bound filly Assail will have her polish-up for the world’s richest two-year-olds’ race when she resumes racing in the $125,000 Group 3 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm’s Randwick Guineas Day.

Due to jump at 2:50pm (AEST) as Race 4, the Sweet Embrace Stakes 2013 field features 11 young fillies with an undefeated daughter of Charge Forward, Assail, heading the acceptors.

A winner of her opening two career starts including a smart three length effort in the Wyong Magic Millions Classic, Assail was to have jumped favourite in the Gold Coast MM Classic but was withdrawn from the race due to an infected hoof.

She has since made a full recovery as shown with her good trial win over 900m at Rosehill on March 5 which she will be looking to repeat first-up on the weekend when she jumps from her inside barrier one draw with Peter Robl aboard.

Assail is currently third favourite in the futures bookmaker.com.au markets for the $3.5 million Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m), running at Rosehill Gardens on April 6, paying $15.

She trails only the Gai Waterhouse-trained Widden Stakes winner Overreach ($4.40) and Villa Verde ($8).

A win in the Sweet Embrace is sure to see Assail’s Golden Slipper price firm making now the time to get behind her.

There are a number of other promising fillies in the mix on Saturday however including the Chris Waller-trained Calming Influence who has also drawn nicely in the Sweet Embrace Stakes barriers with gate two.

The Commands filly debuted with a Rosehill win in January before their second to Good Job Bro at Warwick Farm in the wet when stepping up to 1200m on February 23, an effort she has the ability to improve on if the ground stays firm this weekend.

Other fillies to have already broken their maiden status are then the John O’Shea-trained Romantic Moon looking to improve on her eighth in the Silver Slipper Stakes, last start Canterbury winner Vocalise and Gai Waterhouse’s progressive Ferocity grey Greytfilly.

Waterhouse has also accepted for Golden Slipper hope Most Joyful who ran a distant fifth to stablemate Overreach in the Widden Stakes on debut and who is a full sister to the trainer’s champion mare More Joyous.
