Wall Street Heads 2013 Yalumba Golden Mile Nominations

Saturday’s Blamey Stakes third placegetter Wall Street heads nominations for the $150,000 2013 Yalumba Golden Mile (1600m) at Bendigo on Saturday.

The veteran gelding was considered unlucky not to have finished closer when beaten a half-length behind Melbourne Cup favourite Puissance De Lune and Budgriguez who deadheated a tough Blamey Stakes.

Despite some solid performances, Wall Street hasn’t won since November 2010 when he took out the Group 1 Emirates Stakes.

But the son of Montjeu has shown glimpses of his best this preparation, also finishing fourth in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes and running second in the Kilmore Cup.

Also nominated for the Bendigo feature is Lloyd Williams-owned gelding Practiced who was second in the Bendigo Cup during the spring and was a strong runner-up when opening his autumn campaign at Flemington on March 2.

Another horse who featured in the spring nominated for the Golden Mile is Folding Gear who won the Group 3 Naturalism Stakes before finishing seventh in the Caulfield Cup.

The five-year-old will appreciate a rise in distance after running fifth over 1400m in the Listed TAB Stakes first-up earlier this month.

Out to continue some strong form will be four-year-old mare Secret Liaison who has won her last two starts and four of her last five.

Another in-form entrant is Cosmic Causeway who backed up a Flemington second to run third in the Kilmore Cup last month.

There is no shortage of city winners nominated an another of those is Bart Cummings-trained veteran Precedence.

The seven-year-old is a triple stakes winner and was ninth in last year’s Melbourne Cup.

Other horses nominated for the Golden Mile include Finiguerra, Streaky Fella and Zabisco.
