Steps In Time on Track for 2013 Coolmore Classic – Wiggle Stakes Results

The Group 1 2013 Coolmore Classic appears to be at the mercy of Steps In Time who continued her strong form with a brilliant win in the Listed 2013 Wiggle Stakes (1400m) at Warwick Farm today.

The John O’Shea-trained galloper was taking on some genuine Group 1 mares but that didn’t matter as she powered to her second consecutive Wiggle Stakes victory.

With top front-running jockey Nash Rawiller aboard, the five-year-old pinged to the front out of the gates and that is where she stayed.

No runner challenged the leader who was two lengths in front rounding the home turn and she extended that margin to three lengths when crossing the finishing line.

It was the second straight win of her autumn campaign and O’Shea said her form is the result of being a bigger, more mature horse.

“She seems to have really strengthened up. She’s racing a good 10-15kg heaver this time and it’s refelected in her performances,” O’Shea said.

“She’s a mare in form and she’s going to hold her form hopefully.”

Rawiller was impressed by the daughter of Danehill Dancer’s ability to accelerate on the back of a hot tempo.

“She quickly gained a beautiful rhythm…it was a really promising win,” Rawiller said.

“It’s pretty hard to comprehend that she could quicken off that tempo but she did today.”

The $600,000 Coolmore Classic will take place at Rosehill on March 23.
