The Lloyd Williams-owned star has drawn barrier nine for the prestigious $1 million weight-for-age test.

The six-year-old son of Montjeu will be running second-up after a solid fourth to All Too Hard in the Futurity Stakes last month.

Perth stayer Mr Moet is considered one of the strongest Australian Cup chances but faces a tough ask after drawing the widest barrier in the field.

The five-year-old, who starred at Perth’s Summer Carnival, has kicked off his east-coast autumn campaign with minor placings in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes and the Group 2 Peter Young Stakes.

There is no shortage of Group 1 winners in the field and other top chances include 2011 Mackinnon Stakes winner Glass Harmonium and German import Mawingo.

Glass Harmonium was a bold second when running first-up in the Futurity Stakes while Mawingo was second in the CF Orr Stakes and fourth in Peter Young Stakes.

Three-year-olds Fiveandahalfstar and Super Cool have a weight advantage over the rest of the field, carrying just 54.5kg.

The other males in the field will carry 59kg while Invest carries 57kg as the race’s only mare.

Super Cool and Fiveandahalfstar are developing a strong rivalry and will get an early look at each other when they run from barrier three and four respectively.

Fiveandahalfstar defeated Super Cool in the Victoria Derby in the spring but Super Cool exacted revenge in the Autumn Classic last month when storming past the Anthony Cummings-trained gelding to take top honours.

Super Cool is joined by Peter Young Stakes winner Foreteller and David Hayes-trained entire Niconoise as one of three last-start winners in the field.
