Bennetta Leads 2013 Surround Stakes Nominations

Nominations have been released for the Group 2 Surround Stakes, which is set to run at Warwick Farm Racecourse this Saturday March 9, 2013.

A total of 14 horses have been nominated for the race, including Bennetta.

Bennetta has won three of her six race starts and has earned more than $285,000 in prize money during her horse racing career.

The General Nediym filly has won all three of her past race starts, with her most recent being in the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse on February 16, 2013.

Bennetta is trained at Royal Randwick Racecourse by Grahame Begg and will be stepping up to 1,400 metres for the first time in the race.

Attempting to put an end to Bennetta’s winning run will be Dear Demi, who is also nominated for the 2013 Surround Stakes.

Dear Demi finished third in the Light Fingers Stakes when first-up last start and will be out to turn the tables in this weekend’s race.

The three-year-old filly has won four of her 16 race starts and has earned more than $1.12 million in prize money during her career so far.

Dear Demi will be looking to reach the same great heights this autumn as she did during last year’s spring racing carnival where she won the Group 1 Crown Oaks in November.

Driefontein and Meidung are also included in the 2013 Surround Stakes nominations.
