It wasn’t easy but short-priced favourite Red Tracer kept her flawless wet-track record alive when winning the Group 3 2013 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill today.

The five-year-old was $1.60 at race jump and got the job done despite giving plenty of punters a fright in the dying stages.
Positioned behind the leader on the rail by Nash Rawiller, Red Tracer found open running upon entering the straight.
But the daughter of Dane Shadow never kicked away as expected and hung on by the narrowest of margins on the line from Queensland mare Risk Aversion who finished strongly down the inside.
Trainer Chris Waller was pleased with the result but said she is likely to be ridden in a quieter manner in her next hit-out.
“It was very close. She was getting tired, she’s a tough filly,” Waller said.
“She’ll take benefit from the run. Maybe she needs to be ridden a touch quieter.
“In hindsight maybe ride her a little bit quieter and that will allow her to attack the line a bit more.”
Rawiller echoed the thoughts of Waller, saying that she struggled slightly having to make a sustained run for home.
“She’s only really got a 300m sprint and that obviously told a bit late,” Rawiller said.
Red Tracer has now won 10 times from 24 starts and is unbeaten from six starts in wet conditions.
Group 1 placegetter and noted wet-track performer Ladys Angel finished in third position.
