2013 Silver Slipper Stakes Won by Sweet Idea – Golden Slipper Bound

Sweet Idea has taken out the Group 2 2013 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) and caused trainer Gai Waterhouse to declare her “impossible to beat” in next month’s Group 1 2013 Golden Slipper (1200m).

Waterhouse won the Silver Slipper last year with eventual Golden Slipper champion Pierro and she didn’t hold back in her excitement after Sweet Idea powered to victory today.

“Outstanding filly. I said it all along, she’ll be impossible to beat today and more importantly she’ll be impossible to beat on Golden Slipper day,” Waterhouse said.

“The fillies have got it over the colts at this point in time.”

The daughter of Snitzel benefited from a strong tempo set by Kuroshio and All The Talk to fly home with Jim Cassidy aboard.

She was strong through the line, holding off big finishes from Whiskey Allround and Charlie Boy.

Sweet Idea is yet to finish worse than second from five career starts and Waterhouse said she had taken great improvement out of a runner-up finish in the Magic Millions Classic in January.

“The beauty about going up there is it gave her a chance to really have a good hit-out,” Waterhouse said.

Cassidy described the performance as “courageous” despite the emerging galloper not being ideally suited to the heavy track.

“I thought it was a really courageous effort as they never really travelled in the run at all,” Cassidy said.

“I wouldn’t say she was 100 per cent in the ground but Gai Waterhouse and Jim Cassidy, we did the rest.”

Many of these horses will go on to the Golden Slipper so take note of the form and back a winner at great odds at bookmaker.com.au!
