Tuscan Fire 2013 Adelaide Cup Betting Favourite

Heading the bookmaker.com.au market is Tuscan Fire ($4.40) who has been in outstanding form this preparation.

The Ballarat-based gelding was last seen dominating the Listed Mornington Cup by three lengths which was his third win from his four most recent starts.

Trained by Dan O’Sullivan, the six-year-old will be asked to carry a big 58.5kg weight, just 0.5kg less than topweight Titch.

Occupying the second line of betting is Hurdy Gurdy Man ($6.50) but the consistent entire will not start after going amiss in the Launceston Cup on Wednesday.

Macedonian ($7) is equal third favourite and was last seen running third in the Mornington Cup.

Joining the Peter Moody-trained galloper at $7 is You Think So who won the Listed Night Cup at Moonee Valley on February 22.

At $13 is Bells Of Troy who has won twice and recorded two runner-up finishes from her four most recent starts.

The four-year-old is lightly raced for just 10 starts from which she has won three times and placed on another four occasions.

Last year’s Adelaide Cup third placegetter Norsqui could get the chance to go one better this year and is considered a $14 chance.

The six-year-old has spent the summer racing in Tasmania where he has finished second in the Summer Cup, sixth in the Hobart Cup and fourth in the Launceston Cup.

Shewan ($15) is a Group 2 winner and was last seen finishing runner-up by a head to Bells Of Troy at Flemington on February 16.

Proven at Morphetville is Shadows In The Sun ($17) who won the Group 1 South Australian Derby in 2011.

Other potential Adelaide Cup contenders include Perth Cup winner Talent Show ($17), Michael Kent-trained gelding Aggregator ($21) and Distillation ($21) who has won his past three starts at Morphetville Parks.
