The star three-year-old will be running first-up when he jumps from barrier nine with Nash Rawiller in the saddle but his imposing record has failed to scare off too much competition.

Despite a resume standing at eight wins from 10 starts, including three wins and two minor placings at Group 1 level, plenty of talent will line up alongside the Golden Slipper winner.

One of his top rivals come from the same stable, with Waterhouse electing to throw Proisir into the deep end against his more highly-rated stablemate.

Proisir had little luck at the barrier draw, receiving barrier 11, but is resuming with some strong trial form behind him and also boasts a quality record of three wins from five starts.

Unbeaten colt Rebel Dane faces the toughest test of his career but earned his start after a flying come-from-behind win in the Group 2 Royal Sovereign Stakes at Rosehill on February 16.

There is no shortage of spring performers returning in the Hobartville, with New Zealand colt It’s A Dundeel to kick off his autumn campaign which will be tailored towards the Australian Derby in April.

Leading Victorian trainer Peter Moody elected to bypass the Australian Guineas with in-form galloper Mulaazem and has instead sent him to Sydney for the Hobartville.

The son of Dubai Destination is chasing a third consecutive victory after handling the rise in class from a win at Cranbourne to claim the Group 2 Autumn Stakes at Caulfield on February 9.

Also out to record a third consecutive win is Paul Messara-trained colt Vadashan who will be having his first test at stakes level.

Chris Waller’s former New Zealand galloper Sacred Falls will get a chance to redeem himself after suffering the first defeat of his career when a well-beaten fifth in the Royal Sovereign Stakes.

Others in the Hobartville Stakes field include John O’Shea’s colt Ashokan and Darley trio Proverb, Solemn and Tatra.
