Millie Fox Stakes 2013 – Final Field and Barrier Draw

A bumper program featuring plenty of stakes action takes place at Rosehill on Saturday and one of the highlights is the Group 3 2013 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m).

The $125,000 fillies and mares’ race boasts a talented 12-horse field headed by topweight and Group 1 winner Secret Admirer.

The Grahame Begg-trained galloper will carry 59.5kg in her first-up test where she will attempt to score her first victory since the Group 1 Epsom Handicap in October 2011.

Despite not being able to cross the line in front of late, the daughter of Dubawi has consistently placed in the top grade and has collected more than $1.3 million in prizemoney.

Also with strong credentials is Chris Waller’s five-year-old mare Red Tracer who was solid first-up when second to Steps In Time in the Group 2 Thoroughbred Breeders Classic.

Red Tracer won the Group 2 Premiere Stakes during the spring and boasts a consistent record of nine wins and nine minor placings from 23 outings.

Travelling south from Queensland to make her interstate debut is Michael Lakey’s mare Risk Aversion.

The five-year-old was unplaced in two spring races but has signalled potential with five wins and three minor placings from 12 career starts.

Three-year-olds Driefontein and Flying Snitzel will take on the older mares but will need to improve in order to taste success after being well beaten in fourth and fifth respectively in the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes on February 16.

There is only one last-start winner in the field with Gwenda Marwell’s four-year-old Alesteem facing a step up in class after winning at Wyong earlier this month.

Others in the Millie Fox Stakes field include five-year-old staying mare Crafty Irna, Joe Pride’s wet-track specialist Ladys Angel and Kembla Grange-based mare Aliyana Tilde.
