Australian Guineas 2013 Betting – All Too Hard Odds-on

All Too Hard may not be quite at the price his big sister Black Caviar runs around at but he’ll still start as by far the shortest-priced favourite of the weekend in the Group 1 2013 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on Saturday.

Neither the bookies nor punters are buying into any concerns about a wide barrier 14 draw and the star three-year-old is currently at $1.28 with bookmaker.com.au.

The triple Group 1 winner has been a clear favourite when notching up wins in the CF Orr Stakes and the Futurity Stakes at his past two starts but Saturday is a another story.

He may be backing up just seven days after the Futurity but he is rock-hard fit and returning to take on his own age group after dominating the older horses.

With Gai Waterhouse-trained pair Pierro and Proisir remaining in Sydney for the Hobartville Stakes the race appears to be at All Too Hard’s mercy.

Not a single other runner falls under double figures in the capacity 16-horse field with last year’s Golden Rose runner-up Albrecht the next best at $17.

But the Darley colt will have to show a serious form reversal to be even a hope of finishing in the top three after running sixth in the Manfred Stakes and seventh in the CS Hayes Stakes to kick off his autumn campaign.

CS Hayes Stakes winner Sheer Talent ($19) is the only other horse under$20 after a strong win for Mark Kavanagh last start.

Michael Kent’s pair Philippi ($21) and High Shot ($21) are unsplittable in the betting and both are expected to improve off unplaced first-up performances.

Another trainer with two runners in the field is Greg Eurell who has accepted with CS Hayes Stakes minor placegetters Force Command and Hosting ($26).

Force Command has beaten home his stablemate at his past two starts despite Hosting starting at shorter prices on both occasions.

Others in the Australian Guineas market include Victoria Derby fourth placegetter Hvasstan ($26) and Mick Price’s in-form colt Ajeeb who is stepping up in class but chasing a third straight win.
