The Group 3 Launceston Cup is set to run at Launceston Racecourse tomorrow February 27, 2013, and trainer Mick Burles is confident The Cleaner can salute in the race.
The Cleaner will have the wet weather on his side, which will give him a definitive advantage over the other runners in the race.
The five-year-old is proven on rain affected tracks, producing his best performances when the track is classified as slow or worse.
The Cleaner has never placed worse than second on a slow track, and he will be looking to keep that record alive in the 2013 Launceston Cup.
“Even on a dry track I thought that whatever beats my bloke would win,” Burles said.
“But he’s an even better chance in the wet.”
The Cleaner has been in career best form this preparation, with his only disappointment coming when tenth in the Devonport Cup at Devonport last month.
However, Burles puts that performances down to the race track.
“He hates that track, he doesn’t seem to like the way it moves under his feet,” Burles said.
“But at the same time, he doesn’t mind at all if it’s wet.”
The Savoire Vivre gelding has won 12 of his 24 race starts in total and has earned more than $250,000 in prize money during his career.
