Pierro Headlines 2013 Hobartville Stakes Nominations

Pierro will return to racing this autumn carnival in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes, which will take place at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse this Saturday March 2, 2013.

The three-year-old headlines the 17 nominations for the $200,000 race.

Pierro has won eight of his 10 previous runs and has earned more than $3.5 million in prize money during his horse racing career.

The Lonhrocolt will be looking to start the autumn on a high, after facing defeat as his last two spring starts.

Pierro placed second to All Too Hard in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas in October, before finishing a gallant third in the Group 1 Cox Plate at Moonee Valley Racecourse last start.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained colt finished second in his most recent barrier trial over 1,200 metres at Warwick Farm.

Also included in the 2013 Hobartville Stakes is It’s A Dundeel.

It’s A Dundeel has won five of his seven runs and has earned more than $480,000 in prize money.

The High Chaparral colt won the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes and Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes last spring and will be looking to claim another Black Type win in the 2013 Hobartville Stakes.

His latest result was a seventh placing in the $1.5 million Victoria Derby in November last year.

Mulaazem, Proisir and Bennetta are also part of the 2013 Hobartville Stakes nominations.
