Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Glamour colt All Too Hard enhanced his star power with a comfortable three-length victory against a strong field in the Group 1 2013 Futurity Stakes (1600m) at Caulfield today.
The three-year-old bounded out of the gates from barrier four which allowed jockey Dwayne Dunn to settle him into an ideal position behind the speed.
Natural leaders Glass Harmonium and King Mufhasa ensured a strong tempo throughout the race and the odds-on favourite was allowed to travel comfortable in fifth position.
As the field rounded the turn Dunn stoked his mount and there was only one horse that ever looked the winner as All Too Hard showed an electric turn of foot to claim a dominant victory from Glass Harmonium and King Mufhasa.
Co-trainer Wayne Hawkes said the team would monitor the big colt closely over the next 48 hours but are hopeful of backing him up at Flemington next Saturday in the Group 1 2013 Australian Guineas (1600m).
“We’d be 99 per cent sure of running but we’ve got to see how he licks the [feed] bin and how he is over the next 48 hours,” Hawkes said.
All Too Hard appears to have the Australian Guineas at his mercy after beginning his autumn campaign with two strong Group 1 weight-for-age victories.
Dunn was full of admiration for the son of Casino Prince in what was his sixth career win from 11 starts.
“Obviously he began really brilliantly today, that’s the best he’s left the machines,” Dunn said.
“He’s doing everything beautifully. He’s handling himself really well.
“I’ve been waiting 20 years to find something like this and it’s finally coming to fruition.”
