James McDonald will be hoping for a quick return...
The betting market for the Group 3 2013 Mannerism Stakes (1400m) is wide open with no clear favourite and six of the 11-horse field falling under double figures.
At the top of the market are Peter Moody-trained mare Storm Burst and dual stakes winner Star Of Giselle who share favouritism at $6.
Storm Burst is coming off a first-up second at Sale while Star Of Giselle is resuming from a spring campaign where she won three of five starts including the Listed Race-Tech Classic and the Group 3 Tesio Stakes.
Just behind the pair is topweight Spirit Song ($7) who will be forced to carry 59kg in what will be the beginning of her autumn campaign.
The five-year-old mare placed at Group 1 level in the spring behind Solzehnitsyn in the Toorak Handicap and has a strong record of seven wins and nine minor placings from 25 starts.
Bonaria ($8) showed her ability in the spring when second to Mosheen in the Group 2 Blazer Stakes but will have to bounce back from a first-up seventh in the Bellmaine Stakes.
The other two runners under double figures are last-start Moonee Valley winner Family Crest ($9) and Bellmaine Stakes fourth Vibrant Rouge ($9).
Peter Moody’s second runner in the field Never Forget is at $11, slightly ahead of Michael Kent’s consistent mare Goldslick ($12).
Bringing terrific form into the race and offering value at $15 is David Hayes-trained mare Rose Pattern.
The daughter of Redoute’s Choice won three consecutive metropolitan races in Sydney and Melbourne before travelling to Hobart to finish third in the Group 3 Bow Mistress Trophy.
Others in the Mannerism Stakes market include Hi Belle ($12) and Minnie Downs ($21).
