Set to run at 1:20pm (AEST) this year’s $220,000 Group 2 D’Urban Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) features a field of seven three-year-old fillies the current favourite of which is the Robert Smerdon-trained Members Joy.

Drawn in gate four with Glen Boss to ride, the Hussonet grey sits top of the Angus Armanasco Stakes odds at a quote of $3 having run a very close second to Octavia in the Listed Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) last start.

The extra 200m on Saturday is sure to suit Members Joy too who put in a smashing run over the Flemington mile during the spring when defeated a short half-head in the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes.

Hot on Members Joy’s heels in the Angus Armanasco Stakes betting markets is then Red Fez at $3.60.

Due to jump from barrier three with regular rider Chad Schofield in the saddle David Hayes’ Red Ransom filly is undefeated so far having saluted in both of her career starts.

After a two length win on debut at Ballarat Red Fez was last seen hanging on to beat home You’re So Good in a three-year-old fillies handicap at Sandown on February 6, Saturday a test to see whether they can handle a step up in class.

In a wide-open market all but one of the other fillies engaged in the Angus Armanasco Stakes field are at single figures.

Michael Kent’s Elusive Quality filly Summer Gem out to improve on a Kevin Hayes’ seventh and the Nigel Blackiston-trained daughter of Charge Forward Balaclava Lady coming off a fifth in the same race, drawn in gates seven and six respectively, occupy the third line of betting at an equal quote of $6.

They are followed by two $7.50 chances with the Peter Moody-trained Kevin Hayes fourth placed Meliora (gate two) and Luke Oliver’s local Al Maher filly Hamam who has the inside running from barrier one as they shoot for their third win on the trot.

Pat Carey’s Zabeel filly Gondokoro resuming after a seventh in the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) back in November on $51 is then the roughie of the field.
