Mannerism Stakes 2013 – Final Field and Barrier Draw

The final field for the Group 3 2013 Mannerism Stakes (1400m) has been announced which takes place as a key support race on the bumper nine-event program at Caulfield on Saturday.

Eleven horses have been named to contest the $150,000 mares-only event including Group 1 placegetter Spirit Song.

The Aaron Purcell-trained mare will carry the topweight of 59kg for what will be her first start since a consistent spring campaign.

Spirit Song did not record victory from six spring starts but was among the minor placings four times including finishing second to Solzehnitsyn in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap.

Also running first-up after a strong spring campaign is Star Of Giselle who won three of five spring outings including the Group 3 Tesio Stakes and the Listed Race-Tech Classic.

In terrific form heading into Saturday is David Hayes-trained four-year-old Rose Pattern who backed up three consecutive victories at Sydney and Melbourne tracks to finish third in the Group 3 Bow Mistress Trophy at Hobart on February 3.

Returning to defend her Mannerism Stakes title is Hi Belle who will carry 58kg from barrier 10.

The daughter of Clangalang typically performs well fresh which was evident during the spring when she finished runner-up in the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes.

Leading Victorian trainer Peter Moody has two runners, accepting with both Never Forget and Storm Burst.

Import Never Forget was a Group 2 winner in France but is yet to make an impact in three starts on Australian soil.

Storm Burts was a consistent performer during the spring and is coming off a runner-up finish at Sale earlier this month.

Others in the Mannerism Stakes field include last-start winner Family Crest and Michael Kent’s Goldslick.
