Guelph 2013 Blue Diamond Stakes Betting Favourite

Darley filly Guelph holds favouritism from Miracles Of Life in the 2013 Blue Diamond Stakes betting market ahead of the $1 million Group 1 juvenile feature at Caulfield on Saturday.

The daughter of Exceed and Excel is at $3.10 in the bookmaker.com.au market despite drawing wide in barrier 13 but Miracles Of Life is hot in pursuit at $3.40.

Both horses bring terrific form into the race, with Guelph attempting to score a third consecutive win after a dominant performance in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Fillies’ Prelude last start.

Adelaide filly Miracles Of Life has turned plenty of heads with three convincing victories to begin her career including a 4 1/2 length walloping of her rivals in the Listed Blue Diamond Fillies’ Preview.

Guelph’s stablemate Metastasio ($6.50) has also signalled plenty of potential with two big wins to begin her career while Peter Moody-trained colt Thermal Current ($7) is the only other runner to fall under double figures.

Metastasio was last seen winning the Listed Chairman’s Stakes by three lengths at Caulfield on February 2 and Thermal Current is coming of a third-place finish in the Blue Diamond Colts and Geldings’ Preview.

Occupying the fifth line of betting but at a big price is $18 chance The Bowler who debuted with a runner-up finish in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Colts and Geldings Prelude on February 9.

Offering plenty of value is Cranbourne-based colt Crack A Roadie ($21) who debuted to plenty of fanfare during the spring.

The son of Charge Forward reeled off a stunning finish to take out the $255,00 Inglis Banner Stakes and then was a narrow second in the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate.

Also at $21 is David Hayes-trained filly Gregers who has had one race for one win in the Sportingbet Plate at Moonee Valley on February 1.

There are plenty of in-form gallopers at big prices including Godiva Rock ($26), Dissident ($26) and Montsegur ($34) who all placed at Group level at their last start.

The longest-priced runner in the Blue Diamond field is Shamus Award ($101) who is coming off three consecutive third-place finishes.
