All Too Hard Draws 4 – 2013 Futurity Stakes Final Field and Barriers

Superstar colt All Too Hard has drawn barrier four in a 10-horse field for Saturday’s Group 1 $500,000 2013 Futurity Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.

The half-brother to Black Caviar will be running second-up after proving his spring form was no fluke with a strong win in the CF Orr Stakes at Caulfield earlier this month.

All Too Hard is set to start as favourite for his attempt to score a third Group 1 victory but faces some quality rivals including Melbourne Cup winner Green Moon.

The Lloyd Williams-owned galloper will be ridden by his Melbourne Cup jockey Brett Prebble from the inside barrier.

Green Moon is one of two of Williams’ charges to contest the Futurity Stakes, with Mourayan also set to kick off his autumn campaign.

Mourayan is coming off a spring campaign where he won the Group 3 Craven Plate and finished seventh in the Melbourne Cup.

New Zealand veteran King Mufhasa will defend his Futurity Stakes title from barrier seven.

The eight-year-old is a crowd favourite in New Zealand and has taken out two Australian Group 1 races but will have to improve from a fifth-place finish to All Too Hard in the CF Orr Stakes.

A number of stayers who will be targeting further distances later in their campaigns will resume in the Futurity including All Too Hard’s stablemates Maluckyday and Niwot.

Both failed to make an impact in the spring but have shown their talent in the past with Maluckyday second in the 2010 Melbourne Cup and Niwot winning last year’s Sydney Cup.

Rounding out the Futurity Stakes field are Group 1 winner Glass Harmonium, Brisbane Cup winner Lights Of Heaven, Pat Hyland’s lightly-raced gelding Shanghai Warrior and last-start third Koonoomoo.
