Daniel Clarken’s undefeated Not A Single Doubt filly burst into contention for the $1 million Group 1 Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) when she easily defeated her rivals in her opening two career starts back home at Morphettville including a nine length thriller on January 5.

At the end of January she travelled up to Melbourne for her interstate debut and she proved she had the class in Victorian company with another eye-catching run this time putting 4.5 lengths on Diamond Glow in the Listed Blue Diamond Fillies Preview (1000m).

After that performance connections opted to pay the $55,000 late entry to get Miracles Of Life into the Blue Diamond Stakes 2013, a hefty decision they will be hoping pays off this weekend when she step it up to 1200m for the first time with her Adelaide-based jockey Lauren Stojakovic retaining the ride.

This year’s Melbourne Festival of Racing classic looks to be dominated by the fillies too with the other top fancied hopefuls in the Blue Diamond Stakes betting markets all being female two-year-olds.

Among these early favourites are the Peter Snowden-trained trio of Guelph, Metastasio and Montsegur out to hand Darley with their second win in three years following the success of Sepoy (2011).

Exceed And Excel filly Guelph has been sitting on the second line of Blue Diamond betting following her two wins this time in firstly at Warwick Farm on Australia Day and then by 1.5 lengths in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) on February 9 at Caulfield.

Metastasio, like favourite Miracles Of Life, is also looking to retain a flawless race record with a Blue Diamond win.

The daughter of Street Cry won by 2.5 lengths in the Nursery Plate at Flemington in January before blowing away her rivals by a minimum three lengths in the Listed Chairman’s Stakes (1100m) at this track on February 2.

New Approach filly Montsegur meanwhile is out to improve on her last-start second to Guelph in the BD Prelude.

Victoria’s premier horseman Peter Moody will also be well represented in the Blue Diamond field on Saturday having accepted for four from his stables with BD Prelude third placed Dissident, Exceed And Excel colt Thermal Current, Sebring filly Kona Breeze who was second in the Chairman’s Stakes last start and his daughter of Hard Spun Quest For Peace.

Other notable hopefuls then include Craig Williams’ mount Crack A Roadie from the Cranbourne stables of Stephen Theodore who hasn’t raced since their second in the Group 3 HKJC Maribyrnong Plate at Flemington last November, Tony Vasil’s Blue Diamond Prelude runner-up on debut The Bowler and the Mark Kavanagh-trained Fastnet Rock filly Casquets who earned a start with her Listed Talindert Stakes (1100m) win last Saturday.
