2013 Blue Diamond Stakes Barrier Draw – Favourite Gets Miracle Alley

Daniel Clarken’s highly-spruiked Adelaide filly Miracles Of Life has come up trumps with the inside alley for Saturday’s Blue Diamond Stakes 2013 where the undefeated youngster is likely to jump top of the odds.

Miracles Of Life, a daughter of Not A Single Doubt out of More Than Ready mare Dazzling Gazelle, has been dominating the futures markets for the $1 million Group 1 Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Classic (1200m) over the past two months having won all three of her career assignments to date.

A 5.5 length effort on debut back home at Morphettville in December was followed by an even more impressive 9 length romp in early January, after which Clarken sent her east to put her Blue Diamond claims on the line.

Those claims were proved when Miracles Of Life easily accounted for her rivals in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) at Caulfield on Australia Day.

She will now look to make it four from four and score an elite level win in the Blue Diamond Stakes, her chances of success boosted with her favourable barrier one draw.

While it was good news for Miracles Of Life some of the other top fancies in the Blue Diamond Stakes betting markets are likely to drift after drawing double digits including the Peter Snowden-trained duo of Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude winner Guelph (Kerrin McEvoy) and Chairman’s Stakes champ Metastasio (Glen Boss) who came up with gates 13 and 12 respectively.

Snowden’s third runner, BD Prelude runner-up Montsegur (Christian Reith) meanwhile has drawn mid-field with gate eight.

Peter Moody’s contingent of four also had mixed results with his widest drawn being BD Preview winner Dissident in 15 while Thermal Current was the winner of the quartet in six.

Other big winners in the Blue Diamond barriers meanwhile included Michael Kent’s lightly-raced Godiva Rock (barrier two), the Tony Vasil-trained Blue Diamond Prelude runner-up The Bowler (barrier three) and Snitzel colt Shamus Award (barrier four) coming off a first-up third in the Chairman’s.

Meanwhile Mark Kavanagh has opted to scratch Casquets from the Blue Diamond Stakes field after last Saturday’s Listed Talindert Stakes winner drew unfavourably wide with barrier 16 of 16 leaving a 15 horse field.
