CS Hayes Stakes 2013 – Betting Tips

The countdown to 2013 Black Caviar Lighting Day is nearly over but there is more than just the great mare’s return on the Flemington card tomorrow.

One of the key support races is the Group 3 2013 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m) which will test a quality group of three-year-old colts and geldings.

Favourite to take out the $150,000 event is Royal Haunt ($2.30) who is chasing a fourth consecutive victory.

Darley colt Albrecht ($5) will be out to bounce back from a disappointing first-up run while Philippi ($6) resumes and has an unbeaten record to protect.

Market mover is Greg Eurell’s colt Hosting ($9.50) who is slightly ahead of Lunar Rise ($10) and stablemate Force Command ($13).

Need help in working our your CS Hayes Stakes tips? Don’t worry as the Races.com.au experts have been working hard to bring you our very best selections.

The Winner

#3 Philippi $6.00

With favourite Royal Haunt drawing the outside and likely to get caught in a tricky position, happy to put Philippi on top here.

A really promising colt who won all three starts during his debut campaign in the spring including the Listed UCI Stakes.

Drawn well in barrier two and has top jockey Craig Williams aboard.

The Placings

#7 Hosting $9.50 and #2 Albrecht $5.00

Hosting is the market mover and there has always been plenty of hype about this Greg Eurell-trained colt.

Won by a big margin on debut at Mornington last year and returned with a solid third in the Manfred Stakes two weeks ago.

Should take plenty of improvement out of the first-up run and likely to slot into a good position from barrier three.

Albrecht was disappointing as a first-up favourite when sixth in the Manfred Stakes but willing to forgive the first-up failure.

Has reportedly pulled up soundly and if he runs close to his best the $5 seems over the odds. A Group 3 winner, he was second in both the Group 1 Golden Rose and Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes during the spring.
