Clarken Backs Stojakovic Ahead of 2013 Blue Diamond Stakes

In the 2013 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Saturday week, Lauren Stojakovic is likely to be one of the least known jockeys in the race.

But when she climbs aboard Miracles Of Life she will have the eyes of many punters on her as she attempts to pilot the top fancy to victory.

Miracles Of Life has been one of the most impressive juveniles heading into the Blue Diamond and is currently an equal favourite with Guelph ($3.20).

But there is a school of thought that if the Adelaide youngster had a big name jockey booked to ride, she would be a clear favourite.

That doesn’t worry Clarken who has applauded the decision of the owners to stick with Stojakovic.

“Lauren deserves the opportunity as she has done everything right and knows the horse so well,” Clarken told News Limited.

“She handled the pressure brilliantly when we went over for the Preview and I know she will do the same again for the Diamond.”

Miracles Of Life has starred in three starts to date, chalking up victories by big margins.

The Not A Single Doubt filly began her career at Morphetville in December where she destroyed her competition by 5 1/2 lengths.

She backed up two weeks later at her home track to prove that was no fluke with a nine-length win.

It was then clear Miracles Of Life was far too good for her home state and she travelled to Melbourne for the Listed Blue Diamond Fillies’ Preview.

But even with the rise in class to black-type in Melbourne nothing could get close to the small but speedy filly who gobbled up the field and bolted clear to win by 4 1/2 lengths.
