Unbeaten gelding Royal Haunt is a short-priced favourite to take his streak to four when he contests the Group 3 $150,000 2013 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m).
The Peter Moody-trained galloper tops the bookmaker.com.au market at $2.30 after an impressive start-to-finish 4 1/2 length trouncing of his rivals in the Manfred Stakes two weeks ago.
There’s no doubting the son of Hard Spun’s form but he’ll still have his challenges this weekend including overcoming a wide barrier 12 draw.
Occupying the second line of CS Hayes Stakes betting is Albrecht ($5) who will have to bounce back from failing as favourite in the Manfred Stakes.
The Redoute’s Choice colt finished a well beaten sixth after arriving on the back of a spring where he finished second in the Group 1 Golden Rose and the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes.
Just behind the Darley-owned galloper is unbeaten colt Philippi ($5.50). The Mick Kent-trained youngster will be having his first run since a spring campaign that saw him win the first three starts of his career including in the Listed UCI Stakes.
No other runner falls under double figures, with Lunar Rise the next best at $10.
The Bart Cummings-trained gelding has won three of nine starts and took out the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes and was runner-up in the Group 2 Sandown Guineas in his final spring outings.
Out to build on solid runs in the Manfred Stakes are Greg Eurell-trained pair Force Command ($12) and Hosting ($11) who finished second and third respectively.
Facing a step up in class but in form is Bass Strait ($17) who has chalked up victories at his last two starts at Seymour and Sandown.
