$1.05 Says Black Caviar Remains Unbeaten in 2013 Lightning

Black Caviar is at, well, Black Caviar odds to keep her unbeaten streak alive when she makes her return in the Group 1 2013 Black Caviar Lightning (1000m) at Flemington on Saturday.

Australia’s piece of equine perfection has opened a $1.05 favourite in the bookmaker.com.au market for what will be her third consecutive Lightning Stakes appearance.

Camp Caviar have been singing the big mare’s praises in trackwork and are declaring her the “Black Caviar of old.”

If the reports are correct, it would take a horrible piece of bad luck to prevent the champion making it 23 straight victories this weekend.

A less than impressive field has been named to take on Black Caviar suggesting rival trainers have conceded they are running for second.

Occupying the second line of betting is Black Caviar’s stablemate Moment Of Change who is at $14.

The four-year-old is the only other Group 1 winner in the field, having taken out the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) during the Spring Carnival.

A son of Barely A Moment, Moment Of Change has won five of nine starts and collected nearly $420,000 in prizemoney.

The only other runner under $20 is Danny O’Brien’s three-year-old colt Shamexpress ($18).

The emerging galloper was third in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes during the spring and is coming off a comfortable first-up win at Moonee Valley on January 25.

Another of the great mare’s stablemates sits on the fourth line of betting with Golden Archer being offered at $21.

An out-and-out sprinter, the four-year-old was a consistent performer during the Spring Carnival when winning twice and recording three minor placings from seven starts.

He has won eight times from 17 outings and collected over $630,000 in prizemoney.

Others in the field include First Command ($41), Go The Knuckle ($41), Satin Shoes ($51) and huge outsider Spirit Cent ($501).
