Norzita Heads The Vanity 2013 Nominations

Bart Cummings’ Group 1-winning filly Norzita heads a 15-horse nominations list for the Group 3 2013 Vanity (1400m) at Flemington on Saturday.

The daughter of Thorn Park is the standout entry for the three-year-old fillies’ feature in what will be her first race since an excellent spring campaign.

Norzita was last seen winning the Group 1 Flight Stakes at Randwick in October which came on the back of a runner-up effort in the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes.

Also coming off a strong spring campaign is Darley filly Kazanluk who announced her potential with some strong performances late in the carnival.

The Anthony Freedman-trained galloper won the Group 2 Moonee Valley Fillies’ Classic and also finished in the minor placings two other times at Listed level.

Also showing promise during the spring was David Hayes-trained daughter of Redoute’s Choice Alzora.

Alzora won the Listed Ethereal Stakes in October before producing a respectable fifth in the Group 1 Crown Oaks.

Victoria’s leading trainer has entered three runners with Baluch, Are There Any and Royal Scandal.

Like the majority of fillies included in nominations, the trio are lightly raced. Royal Scandal has had the most racing experience, recording two victories and two minor placings from six starts.

Are There Any is very much an unknown quantity, having had just two starts for a win at Stawell last month and a third-place finished in a BM78 at Caulfield on February 2.

Others nominated for The Vanity include Greg Eurell’s Petite Diablesse and Nigel Blackiston-trained pair Shilly Shally Miss and You’re So Good.
