CS Hayes Stakes 2013 Nominations Released

Eighteen horses have been entered to contest the $150,000 three-year-old event including Darley colt Albrecht.

The son of Redoute’s choice is being aimed at the 2013 Australian Guineas but to be any hope of being competitive he will have to show remarkable improvement from his first-up effort in the Manfred Stakes.

On that occasion he started as favourite but laboured to finish six lengths off winner Royal Haunt in sixth place.

However there’s little doubting his ability as he won the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes during the spring and also finished second in both the Group 1 Golden Rose and the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes.

Out to continue their impressive form will be Royal Haunt who is yet to be defeated from three starts. The Peter Moody-trained gelding was last seen on February 2 scoring a dominant 4 1/2 length win in the Manfred Stakes.

Also coming out of the Manfred Stakes are Greg Eurell-trained pair Force Command and Hosting who filled second and third positions behind Royal Haunt.

Set to step out for the first time this year is emerging colt Philippi who was unbeaten from three starts during his debut campaign in the spring including in the Listed UCI Stakes.

Legendary trainer Bart Cummings has nominated Lunar Rise. The Starcraft gelding signalled his potential during the spring when he won the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes and finished second in the Group 2 Sandown Guineas.

Others nominated for the CS Hayes Stakes include Clarry Conners’ last-start winner Turnley and John Sadler-trained colt Lonrockstar.
