Australian Cup 2013 Campaign Continues for Foreteller in Carlyon Cup

Chris Waller’s import Foreteller will continue his journey towards the Group 1 2013 Australian Cup when he lines up in the Group 3 2013 Carlyon Cup (1600m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

The six-year-old has had both mixed results and fortune since making his debut under Waller in April 2011.

He won the Group 3 David Jones Cup that spring and also finished fifth at Group 1 level in the Mackinnon Stakes.

Waller then gave the son of Dansili a tilt at the Brisbane Winter Carnival last year where his best result was a fourth-place finish in the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes.

But that campaign ended in disappointing fashion when he finished ninth in the Doomben Cup and also suffered an injury that ruled him out of the entire Spring Carnival.

The Waller camp are confident he is completely over the problem and that was evident in his first-up run at Warwick Farm on January 5 when he ran second in the Handicap (1400m).

Waller’s stable manager Liam Prior said he is likely to appreciate the extra ground on Saturday and was pleased with his work during a hit-out at Caulfield on Tuesday.

“He’ll appreciate further than Saturday’s race. But he’s fresh, fit and ready to race well,” Prior said.

Foreteller will head to the 2013 Peter Young Stakes at Caulfield on February 23 for his final lead-up into the Australian Cup.

The former French galloper occupies the third line of betting at $5.00 for Saturday’s hit-out behind consistent Darren Weir-trained gelding Lord Of Brazil ($4) and French Group 1 placegetter Prairie Star ($4.40).
