Glenn Boss will attempt to win his first Hobart Cup when he saddles up Hurdy Gurdy Man in the $225,000 race this Sunday February 9, 2013.
The top jockey will partner the Ballarat-based galloper in the 2013 Hobart Cup, which has so far eluded him.
A Hobart Cup title would mean a lot to Glen Boss, despite having won three Melbourne Cups throughout his successful career.
“I will definitely be celebrating after the finish line and I will be doing my best to get the crowd involved in the moment — I get a real kick out of it,” he said.
“Every cup is special and the Hobart Cup is one that I don’t have at the moment.”
And Boss believes he has the right horse to claim his début victory in the Group 3 race.
“I like coming to Tasmania and my horse has been set for race,” he said.
“He drops considerably in weight and has a great trainer in Darren Weir.”
Hurdy Gurdy Man has won five of his 20 race starts and has earned more than $150,000 in prize money during his horse racing career.
The five-year-old placed third in the $50,000 Terang Cup at Terang Racecourse last start and will be out to go two better when he lines up for the 2013 Hobart Cup on Sunday.
It will be the second time Glen Boss will ride Hurdy Gurdy Man, with the jockey aboard the Street Cry entire for his third placing in the $80,000 Piping Lane Handicap at Flemington on January 19.
