Carlyon Cup 2013 – Final Field and Barrier Draw

The final field and barrier draw have been announced for the Group 3 2013 Carlyon Cup (1600m) which stands as a key support race on the CF Orr Stakes Day card at Caulfield on Saturday.

Thirteen horses have been named to contest the $150,000 event including 11-year-old gelding Good Ba Ba.

A multiple Group 1 winner in Hong Kong, the son of Lear Fan can not be written off because of his age as he has finished fourth in two starts this preparation.

The Rick Hore-Lacy-trained galloper gets up to his preferred distance this weekend, the same trip at which he won the Hong Kong Mile three times.

Consistent gelding Lord Of Brazil faces a step up in class but has earned that through a series of good performances.

The Darren Weir-trained six-year-old has won three of his last four starts which have all taken place at city tracks.

He is one of two last-start winners in the field, with the other Adelaide gelding Budriguez who also faces a step up in class after recording victory at Morphetville on January 12.

Kicking off their autumn campaign ahead of some likely Group 1 targets is Danny O’Brien’s French import Prairie Star.

The entire was a Group 1 placegetter in France and was solid in two spring starts on Australian soil when fourth in both the Group 3 David Jones Cup and the Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes.

Other horses included in the Carlyon Cup field are Chris Waller-trained import Foreteller, Group 1 winner Invest and Tony Vasil’s The Wingman.
