Adelaide trainer Daniel Clarken and connections have a difficult decision to make with 2013 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) favourite Miracles Of Life.
Connections are expected to pay the $55,000 late entry fee for the $1 million two-year-old race at Caulfield on February 23 but who will ride the filly is still to be decided.
Lauren Stojakovic has piloted the exciting prospect to her three big wins to date but a number of other jockeys have approached Clarken about the key ride.
The South Australian suggested Stojakovic is in the box seat to retain the ride but stressed that no decision has been made.
“We’ve had plenty of jockeys put their hand up for the ride but I can tell you we haven’t confirmed anyone,” he told Racing Network.
Connections will leave it until closer to the February 18 due date to confirm the late entry to ensure that she is still travelling smoothly.
The daughter of Not A Single Doubt has been by far the standout two-year-old heading towards the Blue Diamond since winning a trial by six lengths at Gawler in November 30.
On her debut at Morphetville in December she easily disposed of her rivals by 5 1/2 lengths before backing that up at again at Morphetville to win by nine lengths.
With plenty of hype about her she travelled to Melbourne for the Blue Diamond fillies’ preview on January 26 and she more than lived up to it with a 4 1/2 length win.
Miracles Of Life currently heads Blue Diamond betting at $3.20 ahead of Darley pair Guelph ($6) and Metastasio ($7).
Others towards the top end of the Blue Diamond market include Peter Moody-trained filly Thermal Current ($8) and Robert Smerdon’s Politness ($9.50).
