Blue Diamond Hopefuls Included in 2013 Chairman’s Stakes Nominations

Some more 2013 Blue Diamond Stakes contenders could be unearthed at Caulfield this Saturday when a likely full field of two-year-olds lines up to contest the Listed 2013 Chairman’s Stakes (1100m).

Twenty one horses have been nominated to fill the 16 available starting spots including early Blue Diamond fancy Politeness.

The Robert Smerdon-trained youngster is yet to be seen on race day but has enough hype surrounding her to position her on the third line of Blue Diamond betting at $10.

Politeness is one of many unraced horses entered for the $120,000 sprint which could potentially reveal some autumn stars.

One horse who has already been seen and shown plenty of potential is Darley-owned filly Metastasio who won the Nursery Plate at Flemington by 2 1/2 lengths on January 19.

Former New Zealand trainer Bjorn Baker has a growing profile in Australia and has entered his exciting filly Twilight Royale to make her first trip to the Victorian capital.

The daughter of Testa Rossa won the Inglis Nursery Stakes on debut in December and was runner-up in her second start at Warwick Farm in early January.

Leading Victorian trainer Peter Moody has entered just one of his charges for the race at his home track with Kona Breeze chasing her first victory after two promising starts to begin her career.

After finishing second on debut at Echuca in early January Moody saw enough potential in the youngster to test her in the city and she responded by finishing second to Metastasio in the Nursery Plate.

Also included in nominations for the Chairman’s Stakes are Mark Kavanagh-trained pair Caminetto and Casquets, debut placegetter Blue Palace and John Sadler-trained filly Sworn Revenge.
