Sunshine Coast Cup 2013 – Betting Odds and Tips

The Sunshine Coast plays host to a rare Saturday meeting this weekend which is highlighted by the Listed $100,000 2013 Sunshine Coast Cup (1400m).

Nine horses are in the final field but there could be some scratchings before race jump as the rain is pouring in Queensland and not expected to slow up all weekend.

Current favourite for the Queensland feature is Robert Heathcote-trained mare Fillydelphia ($2.90) with Toowoomba gelding Double Impact the next best at $4.50.

Following closely are Jugahlation and Magic Millions Cup runner-up Gundy Son who are both being offered at $5.

Others in the Sunshine Coast Cup market include stakes winner Lucky Luna ($7.50) and Delago Pilli ($13) who is chasing a fourth straight win.

Need some help working out who to back in the Sunshine Coast Cup? Keep reading as the Races.com.au experts have been hard at work analysing the form to bring you our very best selections.

The Winner

#6 Double Impact $4.50

With the wet weather around Double Impact looks a good bet here. From his past four starts on heavy tracks he hasn’t finished worse than fourth and was second in an absolute swamp at the track in the Sunshine Coast Guineas last year.

Comes into the race rock-hard fit with four starts behind him and gets in on the 54kg minimum. Should be able to slot into a good position from barrier one.

The Placings

#5 Jugahlation $5 and #9 Delago Pilli $13

Jugahlation has often been a source of frustration for Queensland punters but with the expected wet track he must be included.

He bolted home to win by 3 1/2 lengths the last time he got on a heavy track and has won four other times in the wet stuff.

Delago Pilli’s wet-track record leaves a bit to be desired but the horse is in form and great value at $13.

Has handled rises through the grades to go from Sunday class at the Sunshine Coast to a Saturday winner at Doomben and looks well placed to again raise the bar this weekend.
