More Joyous Among Stars to Trial at Randwick on Tuesday

Glamour mare More Joyous heads a star-studded contingent due to step out in Tuesday’s Randwick trials ahead of both the 2013 Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival and the 2013 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

More Joyous heads a strong list of horses due to trial at Randwick on Tuesday

It will be the first public hit-out for the mare since a disappointing 11th in the Cox Plate in October. More Joyous is expected to follow a similar a autumn program to the one that saw her star at last year’s Sydney Carnival.

The six-year-old could be given the chance to defend her title in the 2013 Doncaster Mile and other races possibly on the agenda include the Group 1 2013 Queen Of The Turf Stakes and the Group 1 2013 Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

She is just one of the big names on show on Tuesday with many of her stablemates joining her for pre-autumn hit-outs.

Among the noteworthy horses are lightly-raced gelding Landing, colt Proisir and Group 1-winning import Glencadam Gold.

Landing gave racing fans a glimpse of his talent last autumn with some dominant victories but played no part in the spring due to injury.

Proisir was one of Waterhouse’s three Cox Plate runners and while he could only manage eighth on that day he produced plenty of performances earlier in the spring to warrant his spot in the race.

He won the first three starts of his career in dominant style before being narrowly beaten by It’s A Dundeel when an odds-on favourite in the Spring Champion Stakes.

Glencadam Gold is expected to show improvement off his debut Australian campaign where he won the Group 1 Metropolitan and finished sixth in the Melbourne Cup.

Outside of the Waterhouse stable one of the biggest name triallers is Chris Waller’s multiple Group 1 winner Shoot Out.

The six-year-old added the Group 1 George Main Stakes to his impressive resume during the spring which stands at nine wins from 32 starts with a prize pool of nearly $3 million.
