British General Short-Priced 2013 John Dillon Stakes Favourite

In-form gelding British General is a clear favourite to continue his winning streak this Saturday when he contests the Listed $100,000 2013 John Dillon Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.

British General is a short-priced favourite in the John Dillon Stakes

With three consecutive wins on the board, the five-year-old has been installed at $2.50 at to take that to four when he jumps from barrier two this weekend.

The major obstacle in the Dan O’Sullivan-trained galloper’s way appears to be a change of venue with his three previous wins all coming at Flemington.

The last time the son of General Nediym made a trip to Caulfield was in December where he was beaten by 11 lengths in ninth place.

Second best in the market is It’s Crunch Time ($5.50) who boasts an outstanding record of six wins and four minor placings from 13 starts.

He is coming off a fourth-place finish at Caulfield on January five but prior to that won at Listed level in the Newmarket Handicap in Tasmania.

Following closely in the betting is last-start winner Le Remas ($6.50) who faces a step up in class after winning a mid-week race at Sandown-Hillside last Wednesday. He is joined at $6.50 by Dash For Viz.

Dash For Viz has thus far been unable to record victory this campaign but has come close in his past two starts when runner-up behind British General.

Tony Vasil-trained gelding Under The Eiffel ($9) is the only other runner to fall under double figures.

The five-year-old has not been at this best this preparation but showed promising signs last start to run third in the Chester Manifold Stakes.

Others contesting the John Dillion Stakes include Kane Harris-trained gelding Future Solution ($12) and Peter Moody’s Group 2 winner Highly Recommended.
