Fillydelphia Heads 2013 Sunshine Coast Cup Field

Robert Heathcote-trained mare Fillydelphia heads a nine-horse field for the Listed $100,000 2013 Sunshine Coast Cup (1400m) which will take place on Saturday.

The five-year-old will carry the topweight of 59kg from barrier seven as she attempts to convert some recent good performances into victory this weekend.

Fillydelphia finished within a length of winner and stablemate Fire Up Fifi when fourth in the Just Now Handicap on December 15 and flew down the outside to claim runner-up honours in the Listed Bernborough Handicap on December 29.

The sometimes inconsistent mare appears to have rediscovered some of the form that made her a dual stakes winner in 2011.

One of the likely challengers to the daughter of Bianconi is stablemate Gundy Son who is fresh off a second-place finish in the Magic Millions Cup at the Gold Coast on January 12.

Facing a step up in class but in tremendous form is seven-year-old local Delago Pilli.

The Graham Pollock-trained gelding won at the Sunshine Coast first-up in late November before scoring mid-week and Saturday wins at Doomben in December.

Needing to show a form turnaround but a horse that has shown he is up to class in the past is Gold Coast-based gelding Lucky Luna.

The eight-year-old is a former stakes winner at the track but is coming off two unplaced finishes this preparation.

Another horse needing to turn around their form to be any chance of success is Writer who was seventh in his last start at Eagle Farm on January 5.

The David Stafford-trained gelding boasts a reasonable strike rate of 37 per cent with 16 wins from 43 starts and went on an excellent run last winter when he won both the Rockhampton and Townsville Cups.

Others in the field include Double Impact and last-start runner-up Beautiful Timing.

When markets open later this week on the Sunshine Coast Cup, the best place to back a winner is
