Sunshine Coast Cup 2013 Nominations Released

A total of 18 horses have been nominated for the Listed $100,000 2013 Sunshine Coast Cup (1400m) which takes place as the major feature in Queensland this weekend.

Fillydelphia is one of the top Sunshine Coast Cup entrants

A reasonable group of horses have been entered to chase black-type success including Robert Heathcote-trained mare Fillydelphia.

The inconsistent but talented mare has had an up-and-down preparation so far but showed glimpses of her best last start when flying home to finish second to Alma’s Fury in the Listed Bernborough Handicap.

The daughter of Bianconi has always been highly rated by her trainer and won twice at stakes level in 2011 in the Group 3 Rough Habit Plate and the Listed Brisbane Handicap.

Also nominated for Heathcote is Gundy Son who is coming off a terrific second behind Triple Elegance in the Magic Millions Cup on January 12.

Taking on the Eagle-farm based duo will be Patinack pair Boys On Tour and Prost. Boys On Tour showed promise with a third-place finish at Eagle Farm on Saturday but Prost will have to bounce back after he was beaten by two lengths when fifth.

Travelling north for the race is Tamworth gelding Clever Hans who has won the Coonamble Gold Cup and the Coffs Harbour Cup at his two most recent starts.

Veteran gelding Lucky Luna may not be in great form but is a stakes winner and has recorded three of his 12 career wins of the Sunshine Coast Cup 1400m trip.

Set to resume from a lengthy layoff is seven-year-old gelding Za Magic who was last seen finishing 28 lengths off the winner when seventh in the Caloundra Cup last June.

Others nominated for the Sunshine Coast Cup include Double Impact, Indubious, Matabrahma and Primed.
