Invest Included in 2013 John Dillion Stakes Nominations

Group 1-winning mare Invest is one of 15 horses nominated for the Listed 2013 John Dillon Stakes (1400m) which will take place at Caulfield on Saturday.

Invest

Group 1 winner Invest has been nominated for the John Dillon Stakes

If trainer Heath Conners accepts for the race it will be the four-year-old’s first hit-out since a spring campaign where she struggled to rediscover the form she showed as a three-year-old.

From four spring starts the Geelong-based galloper failed to finish better than seventh.

That is in contrast to her previous preparation where she won the Group 1 Schweppes Oaks at Morphetville and took out the Group 3 Roses at the Brisbane Winter Carnival.

Heading into the race in excellent form is Ballarat gelding British General who will be chasing a fourth consecutive win and his second at stakes level.

The five-year-old will make the trip to Caulfield after some outstanding performances at Flemington including a half-length win in the Listed Chester Manifold Stakes on January 12.

Dash For Viz has finished second to British General at his past two starts and trainer Robbie Griffiths will give him the chance to exact revenge this weekend.

Leading Victorian trainer Peter Moody has entered two runners but both will have to show form turnarounds to be a chance on Saturday, with Highly Recommended coming off a seventh in the Tatersalls Club Cup in Sydney and Cosmic Causeway sixth in the Chester Manifold Stakes.

Making the trip from Sydney for the race is Darley gelding Soledad who has not finished outside the top three in his past seven starts.

The Commands gelding resumed from a spell in promising fashion on January 10 when second in the Listed Takeover Target Stakes.

Also included in John Dillon Stakes nominations are Aaron Purcell’s German import Val Mondo, Tony Vasil-trained pair Under The Eiffel and Veewap and Mornington gelding Future Solution.
