Shillito Wary Of First Command In 2013 Kensington Stakes

Trainer Mandy Shillito is being realistic about Rocking Force’s chances as he continues towards the Listed Kensington Stakes at Flemington Racecourse this Saturday January 19, 2013.

Rocking Force placed second to First Command last start in the $100,000 Mal Seccull Handicap and will be out to turn the tables on the talented galloper.

Shillito is confident Rocking Force has a number of tricks up his sleeve, however, understands that First Command is going to be hard to beat.

“He is a genuine Listed class horse but he keeps running into one a little bit better,” Shillito said.

“We got three kilos off First Command last time and meet him at level weights on Saturday so it does look like he should win.

“But Rocking Force loves the straight at Flemington so there’s hope he can turn the tables.”

Rocking Force has won five of his 27 race starts and has earned more than $300,000 in prize money during his horse racing career.

Shillito was inspired to start her training career after being given the opportunity to train the talented Rocking Force.

“We were running a pre-training centre and I got the chance to train Rocking Force,” she said.

“He was a very immature horse who wasn’t very big.

“But once I put him into work he blossomed and grew into the horse he is now.”

Rocking Force will only have to face another five horses in the 2013 Kensington Stakes.

“He will do what he always does and take a sit,” Shillito said.

“He likes something to chase.

“Sometimes in a bigger field there is the risk of another horse getting in the way so I think he’ll be fine.”
