Queensland’s Gold Coast Racecourse is set to host their biggest race day of the year and the summer’s richest meeting with a bumper eight-race card, the insider tips for which are detailed below, scheduled for Magic Millions Gold Coast Race Day 2013.
Racing gets underway at 12:05pm with the $82,000 Magic Millions Maiden Plate (1200m) and continues through until Race 8 at 4:50pm when the $91,000 Magic Millions Class 6 Plate (1200m) brings things to a close.
Of course there’s plenty of top class racing action in between to please even the fussiest of fans and punters with the headline event being the $2 million Jeep Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) running as Race 6 at 3:25pm where Clarry Conners’ undefeated filly Assail is the red hot favourite.
One race before the juveniles face off in the classic the three-year-olds give it a go in the equally anticipated $1 million Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) featuring the likes of Group 1 winner Sizzling and the Gai Waterhouse-trained duo of No Looking Back and Driefontein who ran the quinella in the two-year-olds race last year.

Race 1 – 12:05pm – Surfers Paradise Marrior Resort & Spa Magic Millions Maiden Plate (1200m)
#7 Tiger Jet ($7) from #1 Kinnersley ($3.60) and #8 Equessential ($18)
Local stayer Noisy Ocean has been in flying form this summer with three December runs including a win at the track over 1400m and two good efforts at Doomben over the mile, can they keep it going stepping up to the 1800m? Kinnersley won the Goulburn Cup two back but has a big weight and goes up in distance here while Equessential vies for third on the trot after back-to-back Brisbane wins of late.
Race 3 – 1:25pm – R.M. Williams Magic Millions Fillies & Mares Handicap (1300m)
#Bennetta ($3.20) from #1 Capital Commander ($4.50) and #5 Playtime ($11)
Bennetta definitely the one to beat for us after just missing out on a run in the MM Guineas (5th emergency), easier task here and her last start win by 2.5 at Canterbury was a cracker. Capital Commander back to defend her title after winning this last year, trainer happy despite the 58kg topweight and gate 12 draw and so he should be looking at her good recent form. Playtime not without her claims even from gate 11 after successive wins at her last two the last at this track on New Year’s Day.
Race 4 – 2:05pm – Myer Magic Millions Sprint (1000m)
#3 Craiglea Falcon ($8.50) from #1 Eagle Falls ($3) and #6 Leealan ($8.50)
Happy to take the market mover Craiglea Falcon from Gympie who gets their chance at the big time here at seven-years-old, think they have something up there sleeve dropping back to the 1000m. Eagle Falls is a former Group 1 winner boasting plenty of class and runs well first-up while track specialist Leealan will be speedy on the short course.
Race 5 – 2:45pm – $1 million Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m)
#10 No Looking Back ($4.60) from #9 Driefontein ($5.50) and #15 She’s A Stalker ($11)

Race 6 – 3:25pm – $2 million Jeep Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m)
#7 Missy Longstocking ($7) from #11 Real Surreal ($9) and #8 Assail ($2.80)

Race 7 – 4:10pm – Oracle Magic Millions Cup (1400m)
#2 Phelan Ready ($6) from #6 Biggles ($8.50) and #12 Sons Of God ($15)
Yes we are tipping Phelan Ready to break that VERY lengthy three year drought here. Find out why in our Magic Millions Cup 2013 Betting Tips article.
Race 8 – 4:50pm – Sky Racing World Magic Millions Class 6 Plate (1200m)
#6 I’m Cool ($2.80) from #1 G’day Old Mate and #3 Carmine King ($6)
Sticking with the favourite I’m Cool here who gets the run of the race from barrier one, the Brisbane galloper having won four of their five starts to date including their first-up effort at Doomben last month. G’day Old Mate should also have a nice run one wider in two but needs to carry the 59kg top-weight as the Toowoomba visitor looks to improve on their two close minor placings in town. Sydney raider Carmine King also has claims coming off a good New Year’s Day win at Rosehill carrying 58.5kg, drop to 56kg here.
