Sydney jockey Tommy Berry is buzzing ahead of the 2013 Magic Millions Carnival where he has key rides in both the 2013 Magic Millions Classic (1200m) and the 2013 Magic Millions Guineas (1400m).
Berry is the number one rider for the Gai Waterhouse stable in the absence of Nash Rawiller and will be chasing his second straight Magic Millions Classic victory after taking top honours with Driefontein last year.
He will ride $21 chance Certitude in the $2 million race while he will again partner Driefontein as she tries to score a Magic Millions double in the Guineas.
A clearly excited Berry took to twitter during this morning’s barrier draw but admits Certitude will need some luck after he drew wide in barrier 19.
“Certitude drew barrier 19 in the 2yo MM she will need a good ride from out there to continue my great success in the race,” Berry tweeted.
The Not A Single Doubt filly won by five lengths on debut at Rosehill in late November but will need to improve after being beaten by Saturday’s favourite Assail when fourth in the Wyong Magic Millions on December 20.
Driefontein drew far more favourably in the three-year-old race and will come from barrier three, the same alley she started from when winning the Magic Millions Classic on protest from stablemate No Looking Back last year.
“Driefontein drew barrier 3 the same barrier that took her to victory in the 2yd MM last year #cantwait,” Berry tweeted.
The Fastnet Rock filly possesses plenty of talent but is another that will have to turn around her most recent form after going down to She’s A Stalker when a $1.15 favourite in the Wyong Magic Millions 3YO Stakes.
The lightly-raced galloper boasts an outstanding record of four wins from eight starts and a prize pool of more than $1.4 million.
Betting markets for the Magic Millions Classic and the Magic Millions Guineas are now available at bookmaker.com.au who are offering a huge $400 bonus bet to customers who sign up quoting the code BONUSBET.
